about

Michael: "We had (former Uncle lead guitarist) Chas in for basic tracks and he just shadowed me. It was still a lot like Uncle. Westerberg famously said that Bob Stinson just took what he (Paul) played and went up an octave. I think that's a bit like what Chas did in Uncle. When we came in for overdubs, he didn't have a lead. I couldn't complain too much - he was just done. But that's the moment it passed to me. Yves just said, "you play it". I think some people think of this as my solo album. That's fair enough. We never got a band together in that time to play it out. We fucking tried. It all became something else with Summer & Sean. But Yves is awesome and I think this rocks. Jason wants us to play this out. There may be something to that..."

lyrics

Up for down
Turn your life around

All this time at the table never did you any favors
So why stay the course?
Reading all of the tabloids, tea leaves
And the coffee grounds for divorce
It's all over - there nothing left to miss.
Had their say
It's another day

Now, hear this.
Chatter ad infinitum 'bout
What no g'American can understand
Like how did all of our goddamn oil
Get underneath their fucking sand?
They're shedding heat and no light
On every questions of the age
But there's a twist
Had their say
It's another day
Now, hear this.

Everything's wrong
I mean, whadda they want - a list?
Had their say
It's another day
Now, hear this

I know it gets on your nerves
But I promise I'll make it up to you sometime
I know I keep on trying your patience
Come on over
Maybe you can try mine
It's all over - there nothing left to miss.

Had their say
It's another day
It'll be okay
Now, hear this

Gimme the up for down
Turning my life around
The only way known or found
Yeah!
