about

Michael: "This the first song I had that was really post-Uncle. I worked on J (Jason Sutherland)'s "Spitbath" record but I'd been quiet otherwise. I knocked this out as demo on four-track. But the next morning I remembered I'd just heard Doug Gillard on WFMU. He was touring as Bob Pollard's guitarist in GBV. I had to re-listen to the entire broadcast to make sure I didn't just lift the riff. I mighta but it wasn't on the tape. God, remember tapes? Regardless, it's a total homage to GBV - not even just the sound but the word play: "ice lip/I slip". Thanks, Uncle Bob...

lyrics

Anytime at all
Right step, blue chip
See right through this
Dedicate the retrobated
Great escape clause
Right step blue chip
See right through this
Final station
Most favored nation
The nervous set won't let you rest
No no no
I might suggest, under duress
This thing could blow
Anytime at all
Red room, ice lip
Won't pull through this
This time, your dime
All will fall
Red room, I slip
Won't pull through this
Not this time
Or anytime
You place your bet
You'll get yours yet
Oh ho ho
Lies can't protect an overstep
I guess I'll go
'Cause anytime
Anytime at all
At all...
